1977: MSc (Physics), University Bonn, Germany.
1980: PhD (Physics; Thesis on Nuclear Fission, Summa Cum Laude) University Bonn, Germany.

Career History:
1997 onwards: CTBTO, Chief of IMS Radionuclide Section. Responsible for establishment and operation of the radionuclide monitoring network (80 stations, 16 laboratories).
1994 to 1997: Scientific Adviser to the German Disarmament Delegation, Geneva, during negotiation of the CTBT.
1997: Chairman of the Radionuclide Expert Group.
1980 to 1994: Fraunhofer Institute for Technological Trend Analyses.
(since 1994 on leave) Head of the Group on Nuclear Measuring Techniques.
